The Maritime Sikh Society in the last thirty-two years has made a tremendous contribution towards the religious, cultural, and social lives of Sikhs in the Maritimes. It is the only Gurdwara for Sikhs east of Montreal. Twice a year, once on Guru Nanak’s birthday in November, and a second time on Baisakhi celebrations in April, the MSS arranges shabad Kirtan of Professional ragis (musicians) from Toronto or elsewhere.
Mr. Gurdial Singh and Mrs. Jagdish Kaur, parents of Amarjit Singh, are leaving Halifax for India . This Sunday they were honored with a Siropa for the sincere service they had been doing in our Gurdwra for the last four months.
Mr. Gurdial had started doing Kirtan Asa Di Var every Sunday at 8 am, was also very knowledgeable about Sikh scriptures, Sikh history and Gurbani Kirtan. Both of them were very helpful in conducting Akhandpaths when we have shortage of Pathis. They will be greatly missed by the Sangat.
Photos From India Fest 2014. This year the public got to see just how much work goes into tying a turben, when Rimple Dhunna tied turban on several members of the public!
